catching up
Hey all! I've officially moved and I've spent my first day down here alone. The last 6 days I have been here and was not alone. Here's a somewhat brief description of the days...
My mom helped me move and her friend Rita came down too. We painted a wall in the living room, painted the dining room including some cute border stuff, stripped the wallpaper in the kitchen, fixed holes/seams, and painted that room, put the kitchen together..etc. We were very busy for a couple of days! We also shopped and got linens for the bathrooms and a new quilt for my bed and some curtains. And of course, unpacked what seemed like 10,000 boxes. They left on Thursday afternoon but I was already gone...
My dad and brother flew in on Thursday and I had to drive to Dallas to get them. Not a bad drive, but the one to Houston is better (more to come on that later). There was this horrible wreck on the highway, which was only 2 lanes and the lanes were closed down for over 12 hours. They had to reroute us onto the construction road, one lane at a time. Very slow. But all in all, it was not too bad. When we got back, we did more fixing stuff than shopping and making the place look good. First we had to mow....I'll have to get used to that again. And they wanted to buy me thing I would need, such as an air compressor....for what?!? I guess airing up my bike tires. They also thought the drill I had was not sufficient so we got one of those and lights and fans and set up the internet. We drove down to Houston on Saturday afternoon for the Chiefs game. It was a very sad game but I"m hoping that the season is better than the first preseason game. It was fun going to an away game. I don't think I'd like to make a habit of it but it was fun once. And Reliant Stadium is gorgeous. There is defintely a difference between their 5 year old stadium and our 36 year old staduim. Dad and Matt left EARLY this morning but I didn't have to drive them to the airport, the hotel that we stayed at in Houston did.
I came home and did stuff around the house and watched TV and tried to take a nap, but people called. Its tough being loved. I thought the dynamics from when my mom was here to when my dad was here were interesting. Definitely a psych study out there for that one. And I've spent the whole day at the house by myself and no breakdowns yet. I think it'll really hit me when there are family things in KC that I can't attend or if I want to see someone and I'm not going to be able to. We'll have to see. I've cried a couple of times and only once when my dad was here but nearing the end of his stay. I hope I have visitors and I"ll be looking for a roommate sometime. But all in all, I"m pretty happy!
I start on Tuesday and have 5 placement exams in 3 days. Yuck. Then we have an additional week of training, registering, payroll and insurance information...yada yada yada. But its only for about 4 hours a day so that's not so bad.
I guess that's all for now. Sorry for the length. Try to stay cool! Love always~
